Laundry pickup-and-delivery service HappyNest has expanded into the Houston market.
“HappyNest has made great strides in launching partners east of the Mississippi, and we were ready to move west and Houston is a prime market for our service,” said HappyNest founder John MacKrell. “Glenn Catlin is fairly new to the industry, but with his business experience and his ‘go get ’em’ attitude, we knew early on he was the right partner to launch HappyNest.”
Catlin and his wife, Rowena, are both nurses who had been successful Subway franchise owners in New England, before a move to Houston three years ago got them into the laundry industry.
“I have always been the entrepreneurial type, and I was looking for something we could do together to reduce the hours around the hospital for Rowena,” Catlin explained. “I found a great property in the Houston area, bought it sight unseen, and as soon as we relocated I started researching the laundromat industry and realized that was why we were there.
“When we purchased our second laundromat, we started discussing the idea of pickup and delivery, but we weren’t sure it was viable is this area or how we were going to make it happen,” he added. “I learned everything I could about starting, operating and scaling this type of business, and I realized I needed help to make this a legitimate business on top of what I had going on in my stores. Then, I discovered HappyNest, and I knew they were the right partner to make this work.”
Residents of Houston and Katy, Texas, now can request pickup-and-delivery service through HappyNest at either of the Catlins’ two Las Lavenderia facilities.
